Penrith Music Club’s next concert is a much-anticipated recital of music for flute and classical guitar by Alena Walentin and Niklas Johansen. Alena is regarded as one of the most versatile flautists of her generation and Danish-born Niklas has received universal acclaim after winning several international competitions and awards.
Alena and Niklas’s recital has a truly international flavour. Composers include Kathryn Hoover and Joan Tower (USA), Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco (Italy), Heitor Villa-Lobos (Brazil), Claudia Montero (Spain) and Astor Piazzolla (Argentina). Solo works for flute and guitar complement duets for both instruments, concluding with the colourful and spectacular tango rhythms of Piazzolla.
The concert takes place in Penrith Methodist Church on Monday February 9th at 7.30 pm.
