BRASS ENSEMBLE CONCERT
Hailed as the North East’s premier brass ensemble, Prince Bishop’s Brass will be making a welcome return to Penrith in the third of Penrith Music Club’s current season of concerts. Based in Durham, they perform a wide range of music from Baroque and Renaissance to upbeat jazz and swing, bringing a wealth of musical experience to their performances.
The concert opens with a Fanfare by Dukas and includes music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods by Jeremiah Clarke, Giovanni Gabrieli and J.S.Bach, as well as arrangements of music from Aaron Copland’s Rodeo and Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story. Two of the greatest pieces in the contemporary brass ensemble repertoire, Bramwell Tovey’s toe-tapping Santa Barbara Sonata and Victor Ewald’s Quintet, complete the programme.
The concert takes place in Penrith Methodist Church on Monday November 17th at 7.30 pm.
