Scott Brothers Duo (harmonium & piano)

Monday 22nd October 2018
7:30pm at the Penrith Methodist Church
Tickets: £16 (students £2), at the door or in advance.

The Scott Brothers return to Penrith Music Club at 7:30 on Monday October 22nd at Penrith Methodist Church to entertain us once more with their pianistic pyrotechnics.

This time they have a second instrument, a harmonium, which will certainly allow for a different sound. Their previous visit was a delight, their energetic enthusiasm and technical ability such a winning combination.

Jonathan and Tom Scott perform an unmissable evening programme of duos for the rarely heard combination of harmonium and piano. This was one of the most popular chamber combinations in the nineteenth century and the powerful yet expressive sound of the harmonium led to some of the greatest original compositions by the most famous composers, including Franck, Guilmant and Saint-Saëns, as well as many orchestral transcriptions.

The evening will feature an original Mustel harmonium which was made in Paris in 1880, to join forces with our Steinway piano, creating a rare opportunity to hear these masterpieces performed as they were intended.
