Marcel Cress, a finalist in the recent BBC Young Music of the Year competition, is one of three outstanding young musicians who will be playing in the popular annual concert given by students of the Junior section of the Royal Northern College of Music, which takes place in Penrith Methodist Church on Saturday April 20th at 2.30 pm.

Marcel is a gifted bassoon player and will be joined by violinist Ella Hodgson-Laws (violin) and Melvin Chan (piano) in a programme which includes music by Scarlatti, Chopin, Debussy, Ligeti, Saint-Saëns, Amy Beach and Nadia Boulanger. If 2023’s concert is anything to go by, this will be an excellent conclusion to Penrith Music Club’s 80th year of bringing high quality classical music to the Eden Valley.

The concert takes place at 2.30 pm and is promoted by Penrith Music Club and Penrith Piano Circle.
