Penrith Music Club concerts resume on Monday January 13th with a recital by Pei-Jee Ng (cello) and Chiao-Ying Chang (piano), replacing the two previously-advertised artists, who are unavailable.
Australian-born Pei-Jee Ng studied at the Royal Academy of Music and has appeared as soloist at numerous international venues, including New York, Taiwan, Berlin and London. Since 2023 he has been principal cellist with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. An accomplished chamber musician, his partnership with Chiao-Ying Chang goes back to 2011 when they Libero Lane Prize at the 2011 Trieste International Chamber Music Competition. Chiao-Ying Chang was born in Taiwan and also studied at the Royal Academy of Music, since when she has enjoyed a successful career as both a solo performer and chamber musician.
The concert will take place in Penrith Methodist Church at 7.30 pm and will include cello sonatas by Beethoven, Debussy and Brahms as well as Fauré’s sublime Elegie, Max Bruch’s passionate Kol Nidrei and Vaughan Williams’ Six Studies in English Folk Song.
