Solem String Quartet
Monday 10th March
7:30pm at the Penrith Methodist Church
Tickets: £20 (students £5), at the door or in advance.

Praised for their “immaculate precision and spirit” (The Strad) and “cultured tone” (Arts Desk), the Solem Quartet has established itself as one of the most innovative and adventurous quartets of its generation. A 2020 awardee of the Jerwood Arts Live Work Fund, one of 33 artists selected from more than 1200 applicants, the Solem Quartet takes its place amongst some of the UK’s brightest artistic voices.
Since winning the Royal Over-Seas League Ensemble Competition ten years ago the Solem Quartet has built a strong following, enjoys a busy concert schedule in Britain and abroad and has regularly broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
They are proud advocates of new music and have worked closely with many of today’s leading composers. The quartet also champions the work of women composers and their recital in Penrith will include works by Henriette Bosmans and Nadia Boulanger as well as Beethoven’s Quartet no.16 in F major, the last work he completed before his death in 1827, and Debussy’s only string quartet, written in 1893 and one of his finest compositions.
